Gary Cullen, lead fitter and co-founder of Protégé Club

Fit by Gary Cullen.

Gary spent eighteen years competing in the professional ranks, earning a category on the European Tour in 2003 before a back injury brought his tournament career to an early end.

Returning to the amateur game in 2018, he won the Leinster Mid-Amateur Open Championship in his first season back and continues to compete today as a plus golfer out of Malahide Golf Club.

Known for his depth of knowledge, precision, and honest approach to fitting, Gary recently set the course record at Malahide — a reflection of the same standards and attention to detail he brings to every session at Protégé Club.

What that means for you: every fitting at Protégé Club is run by someone who has stood on tour ranges, seen what the best players in Europe are doing with their numbers, and brought that eye home to North Dublin. Gary fits across abilities — beginners building their first set, mid-handicappers chasing distance and consistency, scratch and plus players hunting the last few yards — and golfers travel in from outside Ireland to be fit by him.

A studio built around getting the numbers right.

01

TrackMan 4

Every fitting runs on a TrackMan 4 launch monitor — the same system used on tour ranges and in the world's top fitting centres. Every shot, every number, on screen.

02

A proper bay

The fitting bay is five metres wide and three-and-a-half metres tall, so the only thing limiting your swing is your swing. A second bay is on the way.

03

Fit and finished in-house

We re-grip and adjust loft and lie on the premises, with full brand fitting carts and a universal shaft library — Dynamic Gold, Project X, KBS and more — so you can test the right combination on the day rather than guess.

€75 for a one-hour fitting. Free with purchase.

One simple price. No deposit. If you buy the clubs you've been fit for, your fitting fee comes off the price — that's it. No bundles, no upsells, no asterisks.

Three steps. That's the whole thing.

01

Book.

Tell us your preferred day and a time window in the booking form — morning, afternoon, evening or late. We'll come back to confirm a slot that works.

02

Fit.

An hour in the studio with Gary on TrackMan. We work through your bag, swap heads and shafts on the carts, watch what your numbers actually do, and agree on the spec that fits your game.

03

Build.

Your clubs are built to that spec — gripped, lengthed, lie-adjusted — and delivered to you ready to play.

What golfers say.

★★★★★

I really couldn't recommend Protégé and Gary highly enough. Spent a huge amount of time with me ensuring my set up was correct. Explained everything in fantastic detail and made it all very relatable. Good value on the clubs, I had tried another custom fitting service recently and Gary was just miles and miles ahead. Great set up and equipment too.

I recently bought a 2 iron off Protégé. Their studio and set up is as good as it gets. I've been dealing with Gary for years, he really knows his stuff.

Meet Rob

With a background in hospitality, behavioural and performance psychology, and a tendency to overanalyse absolutely everything, Rob helped build Protégé Club around one idea: golfers deserve better than rushed fittings, generic advice, and being sold whatever happens to be in stock.

An aspiring plus golfer himself, Rob became obsessed with the finer details of performance, equipment, and how golfers actually experience the fitting process. The result is a studio built to feel relaxed, honest, detail-focused, and genuinely premium from the moment you walk through the door.

Equal parts perfectionist and golf addict, Rob's role within Protégé Club focuses on constantly refining the overall experience — creating an environment where golfers can enjoy the process, ask questions freely, and leave with complete confidence in what's in the bag.
